Summary

A Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal and fabricated components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role supports production goals by ensuring high-quality finishes, safe operation of coating equipment, and adherence to company quality and safety standards. A coater will work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and consistent coating results.

This position requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to follow standardized processes while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare parts for coating by cleaning, masking, sanding, blasting, or chemically treating surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.

• Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, and curing ovens.

• Apply powder coatings using manual or automated spray systems to achieve uniform coverage and quality finishes.

• Load and unload parts from racks, carts, and move materials through the coating and curing process.

• Inspect finished products for defects, coverage, thickness, and adhesion; perform touch-ups or rework as needed.

• Monitor equipment and adjust settings to maintain proper temperature, pressure, and application performance.

• Maintain and clean spray booths, guns, ovens, and work areas; perform basic preventative maintenance.

• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations for handling coatings and chemicals.

• Document production, quality checks, and material usage as required.

• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Preferred but NOT required 1 - 3+ years of powder coating, industrial painting, or manufacturing experience.

2. Ability to read work orders, purchase orders, or specifications.

3. Strong attention to detail and quality standards.

4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

5. Forklift experience or certification is a plus.

6. Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts as needed.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and coating materials.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly.

• Comfortable working around moving equipment, spray booths, and curing ovens.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (respirators, gloves, eye protection, etc.).

• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines.

Additional Information: $18.00 - $23.00 Hourly Range.
